Renée Phair Healey

 Registered Psychologist

Renee Phair is a Registered Psychologist with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board. Renee completed  a Master of Education program in Counselling Psychology at Memorial University in 2002.

Prior to working on the island Renee began her career post graduate studies in Nain, Labrador as Regional Psychologist with Labrador Inuit Health Commission, today known as the Nunatsiavut Government eH GovernementG   . This proved to be a very challenging and extremely rewarding experience which remains dear to Renee to this day. Renee also  occupied the positions of Clinical Psychologist with Humberwood Treatment Centre, our provinces inpatient treatment facility for additions, and as Addictions Counsellor with Mental Health and Addictions with Eastern Health.

Renee has been in private practice since 2006. She has a deep passion for work with individuals experiencing mental health concerns. Renee also has extensive experience in working with individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and is fluent in ASL. This interest in this group deepened as a result of having a family member who is Deaf. This passion continued in her work at the Newfoundland School for the Deaf as dorm counsellor, followed by internship placements at Canadian Hearing Society in Toronto. Her practice today includes workshops and therapy groups for the Newfoundland Association for the Deaf along with individual counselling with this population.

Renee offers individual, family and group counselling, consulting and workshops.

Her additional areas of interest include:
assessment and treatment for individuals/families engaged with third party reproduction planning, individuals with exceptionalities, individuals who are Deaf, individuals who are hard of hearing, multicultural counselling, concurrent disorders and addictions, depression, anxiety, relaxation, grief, post traumatic stress disorder(  As a result of many different experiences, including Military and First Responder experiences,referrals from self, Veterans Affairs, Department of National Defense),s
tress management, spiritual enhancement and mindfulness.

Most recently, Renee's personal practice of mindfulness and meditation has also become infused into much of her work with her patients.

Renee practices from an integrative perspective, including primarily existential, multicultural, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques.

She believes that it is within you that lies the wisdom and uses  a variety of techniques in assisting in  awareness and the application of approaches that best accommodate your treatment needs.

Specialization in Deaf populations: providing individual, couple or family  therapy sessions in ASL. Opportunity exists to provide online video sessions for Individuals who are Deaf requiring such.
